ABOUT

I offer consultation and designs services for residential landscapes. My goal is to create gardens that are healthy and sustainable. Organic gardening practices and planting a wide variety of native plants and cultivars are important to my approach.

In my design/build/maintenance service, I direct a team of experienced gardeners and craftsmen. We rescue overgrown and “disaster” gardens, edit and reshape existing gardens, and create new gardens tailored to our clients’ tastes, time and budgets.

My design background includes undergraduate education in studio arts and art history, and graduate study in performing arts. For five years, I worked in a university library serving architects, landscape architects and urban planners. Learning the literature and assisting faculty and students gave me insight into the design challenges inherent in the built and natural environments.

Developing my own garden gave me practical experience and learning the broad palette of plants available to mid-Atlantic gardeners was inspiring. A deepening interest and passion for making gardens led to consulting work for friends and neighbors, and finally to establishing an organic, client-focused service.
